The Flower

photograph of Flower & quote by gerard in the sudasudacoffee photoblog

Quote:   Each flower is a soul blossoming out to nature
Author: Gerard de Nerval

So here is the weekend challenge. Can you guess as to when or where this image was shot? Most of the answer is already available in my blog. However lets see as to who is the first person who can either find/guess it.

[Hint: Its in Hyderabad only.....]

Will announce the solution in my next post. Wish you all a nice week end while I start on another outstation trip this weekend.

Are the distractions in the frame purposely shot?

There is a broken stem (towards the left) and a pvc pipe or something where the quote ends.

They take away viewer attention and natural feel.

Thanks Nupur, neither do I know Hyd much. I have been there only twice till date. All the best for your exams.

Amarjeet,
Its a pleasant surprise to see you down here. Thanks for the info - I had attended one session on Flower arrangement conducted in our office. So I have just scratched the surface. Interesting hobby but not captivating enough.

Thanks Lakshmi but I am afraid you are off the mark.

Neel, be content that somebody prevented you from making a wrong guess :-)

Patrick
Thanks a lot for some usefull comments/reviews. The lighting in this snap was natural - no flash. If I have to avoid the broken stem then I will have to change the angle and the lighting wasnt the same. Finally I thought of cropping the image to show only the flower but somehow this snap felt better than cropped one. BTW I am learning with each comment and suggestion.

Arathi, Lighting is one of the toughest things to master I guess. Still I shot this more bcoz of the uniqe lighting. It is bright but it seemed different. I was just experimenting with it - so please bear with me.

Thanks Uma, can u guess the time atleast and the spot - indoor or outdoor?

Eorteme, thanks a lot. Keep guessing.

Let me add some more details:
This one is not from Ramoji film city. And I cant expect you to guess the exact location. What I wanted you all to give it a try is the general settings (indoor/outdoor etc), the lighting (which I have admitted is natural) and the time period.

hey, your idea is novel, the pics and little quotes, do the pics inspire the quotes or vice versa?

I guess its a night shot, probably an outside one, with a bright (street) lamp shinning above this flower !

Well,i am from Hyderabad but no idea where such a beautiful flower is:)The lighting says it can be in a glasshouse or in the backyard of a house,i can be entirely wrong but just a guess:)Somehow id dosnt feel it was from an open place,it must be from a very closed place:)
wonderful choice of pictures,i checked almost every picture here.

Monu, Thanks a lot. Previously it was the quote inspiring the pictures. But with 40% of the pictures being sent by the readers themselves, I am picking a quote for the snap.

Tarun, Welcome to the blog. Is this my batchmate from ES? Though you are off the mark in the guess.

Kaleidoscope,
Apart from Eroteme, yours is the only other id which I manage to consistently spell it wrong. Anyway you almost got it right. It can be called as a showpiece but "spot light" isnt exactly right.

Niki, Thanks I had a nice weekend. Hope you did too.

Smyta,
Dont worry I am not asking any more questions.

Anubhav,
You are right. Even before this blog started I used to love travelling. Now with the added hobby of photography, travelling seems pretty exciting.

Eroteme, You are the only who is in Hyderabad. But still I didnt expect anyone to come out with an exact location.

Akruti,
Thanks for dropping by. A glance at your blog, showed that you write pretty well. That forces me to put your blog in the queue, so that I can read it in leisure. You are right that its in a close space alright.

Thanks for all your comments and guesses. Well here goes the answer - this was shot in a church around 3pm before the actual wedding of my lecturer.

There was this flower in a stand along the pathway inside the church hall. No lights were switched on and it was pretty dark inside. But there was this streak of light coming through the ventilator. Coincidentally it fell right on this flower and I couldnt resist snapping it up.

As far as clues are concerned, the timestamp is stored in EXIF header of the image (I didnt remove it). As far as the location, I had mentioned in the baejaar blog, that I had been only to three places in Hyd - museum, Ramoji film city and the marriage. By elimination, this might have been pretty easy guess.

Anyway thanks a lot to all of you and particularly to Patrick for his feedback.
